IATA is an international trade body, created over 60 years ago by a group of airlines. Today, IATA represents some 250 airlines comprising 94% of the international scheduled air traffic. The organisation also represents, leads and serves the airline industry in general. A few years ago, IATA has gathered a group of Aircraft Recovery Specialists, Engineers, Aircraft Manufacturer and Equipment Suppliers to great a Task Force which discuss most A/C recovery challenges all over the world. This group organizes and regulates A/C Recovery practices all over the world and Deschamps Group is proud to be a partner of this Task Force.

IATA’s Aircraft Recovery Task Force (ARTF) assists the Engineering & Maintenance Group (EMG) in addressing aircraft recovery requirements for new larger aircraft. The EMG provides guidance to the ARTF and maintain oversight of its activities through the approval and review of the work programme..

Role of ARTF

• Work with OEMs to develop practical and safe aircraft recovery procedures to minimize secondary damage to the aircraft structure and minimizing exposure to health and safety risks
• Work with equipment manufacturers and make recommendations for the development of new recovery tools
• Recommend updates for ICAO Airport Services Manual (Doc 9137) Part 5 Removal of Disabled Aircraft
• Increase awareness of economic and operational impact of aircraft recovery
