The first Mobi-Mat® RecPathTM portable beach access mat in Brazil was deployed on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro by the NGO Adapt Surf Brazil –www.adaptsurf.org.br– with a project called Praia Acessivel (Accessible Beach) promoting enhanced surf accessibility and coastal preservation.
The project was followed close by the NGO Espaco Novo Ser, which with financial support from Michelin was able to launch the project Praia Para Todos (Beach for All), with the mission of promoting accessibility and social inclusion for handicapped people and their families, using activities and adapted sports on the beach.
These two initiatives are a perfect demonstration of how conscious both the civil population and the Brazilian authorities are of the need to improve accessibility in general , and particularly to recreational areas like the beach,
